We are a small group of people from the local community

We are an informal mixed group, all with different backgrounds and different experiences, but we share the common mission of wanting to help a family build a new home in a safe place away from the conflict and trauma they left behind.

We are working alongside the charity, Citizens UK, as our ‘Lead Sponsor’ throughout this project.

We began our journey in March 2022 and quickly formed a strong core group of initially 8 individuals. We were in May 2022 joined by Alexandra Sitwell, who agreed to be our Patron. As a Community Sponsorship Group we are working to resettle a refugee family in our community via the Government’s ‘Community Sponsorship Scheme’, which has already transformed the lives of over 700 refugees resettled across the UK. As a registered voluntary group, we are raising money and establishing a support system for a family, currently supported by the Citizens UK. This has involved finding accommodation for a two-year period, as well as building a comprehensive resettlement plan in order to ensure that our family can access benefits, health care services and schools, and begin to integrate into our neighbourhood and its community. We want to keep you all involved in our journey as we grow, learn and work towards resettling our first family.
